What's Goin On Around Campus

For all of you who are looking for something to do around campus, this post is about present and upcoming events! Last night the Peer Mentors and the West Side RA's held an event in the LRH Great Room called "Find Your True Color." It was a very fun/food filled event that included a personality quiz assigning students to a color. If you are a blue you are compassionate and emotional. Gold people are practical and reliable. Orange means you're outgoing and pretty crazy in general and green is the bossy, arrogant type, lol. I was a Blue!

The Blues The Greens The Golds The Oranges Fellow Mentors... Students get free food at our events! Andy and I prepare ourselves for our actiong debut, he did an amazing impersonation of someone falling down. I saw the blood! And I, the compassionate, caring, blue, helped him to pick up his books. Loni and my mentee, Melanie, enjoy the chocolate fountain. ~~~~~~~~~All and All it was a great night~~~~~~~~~~
Future Events:
Don't miss Wig Out! This Saturday, the 22nd on the Quad from noon to midnight! Many organizations around campus are getting involved, including your Housing Residence Council, we'll have sno cones available for all :-)

For those of you who do not know, The Great Midwestern WIG' OUT is a festival where queer and allied individuals come together throughout the Midwest in a centralized location to rejoice music, art, performance and community in a political and constructive environment of personalities, attitudes, culture, age and experience. Not only is this festival a chance to band together to fight for LGBTQ civil liberties and support organizations, but also to appreciate the unique and diverse performances from a wide array of artists to celebrate all that is Queer. It is an all day event at Sept 22 from noon until midnight.
This event is going to change UIS's history. This is goign to be one of the biggest events that UIS has ever seen. Students being on this campus will no longer be in question. This event will also raise awareness and funds for our LGBTQ community.

Next Saturday, the 29th will be the Slam Dunk for Cancer Basketball Tournament If you get the chance to attend it's going to be a great event with food and games, and you get to help fight cancer.

Blood donations took place yesterday, maybe you saw my pale form lying on the cot, lol. I found one of the coolest professors on campus giving blood right along with me! The one and only, Pinky Wassenborg. On a side note: I met a guy who knows George Clooney and Mario Lopez while donating, which I thought was pretty nifty... Yeah, so I guess the lesson here is give blood and you might have the chance to meet random people who know celebrities!

Getting back into the swing of things..

So, it's a few weeks into my sophomore year and I'm finally getting used to all of the changes. It seems like my entire class is really getting involved this year and we've all been so busy and stressed. Sometimes you just need to take a few hours and do something unproductive.
There are so many different ways to waste time, facebooking, aim, watching TV. I prefer to waste time with friends. Playing Life is one good way, (I thought for sure I would win, I was the doctor! Unfortunately I kept getting SUED)

Jordan and Liz tried to whistle, it was so funny to watch them try.

A bunch of us went
to Bellicino's one night (try their meatball pizza, it is so amazing)and later on to Cold Stone, we decided to take lots of funpictures and play in the park.
Until we got kicked out...
