About the Enclave

The Enclave is a multi-university organization based in central Illinois with currently active chapters at Millikin University in Decatur and the University of Illinois at Springfield.

The Enclave is a group of student organizations devoted to the study of martial arts, including the Japanese art of Aikido.  Aikido's purpose is to:

  • Mold the mind and body

  • Cultivate a vigorous spirit

  • Strive for the improvement of our art

  • Hold in esteem human courtesy and honor

  • Associate with others with sincerity

  • Forever pursue the cultivation of oneself

Members meet in the Student Life Building (SLB) Multipurpose Room at weekly classes designed to further their skills.  Classes are open to all.

Becoming a Member

Official membership in the Enclave means more then simply showing up to class - probationary members must first exhibit a respectful desire to learn one of the arts taught by their chapter. Prospective members must then apply for membership - which includes submitting a personal narrative.

If you have questions, please contact one of our officers on the right. If you would like to become a member, consider attending a few classes or contact Daniel Hancock.
