UIS Counseling Center

Active Minds on Campus is a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy organization. Our mission is to utilize peer outreach to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues, provide information about available resources, encourage students to seek help as soon as needed, and serve as a liaison between students and the mental health community. Active Minds, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop and support chapters of the student group on college campuses nationwide. UIS is now one of 14 chapters across the nation! The executive director, Alison Malmon, has high hopes of bringing in at least 15 more chapters during this year (2005).
