so guys even though its only the beginning of the second semester RA applications have been started. i have been trying to decide whether i should apply or not. So here is what i have been thinking about....if i do apply they have a couple stressful interviews but they cant be that bad rite? also a plus is that even if you do not get chosen its a great experience and you learn a lot not only about you but also fellow college students. You could potentially make friends you might have not ordinarily met. So even though its been said to be stressful and hard i am thinking i may just apply even though there is a teeny tiny chance i might get it. Since there is only about 5 spots open and there is tons of freshman and upper class men applying but we will see how it goes. The entire process sounds like fun even if i do not get it......there is always next year rite? So what do you guys think?

first week of classes was last week. It went well .....i think. My tuesdays and Thursdays are jam packed but i dont have class and other days of the week so it is to be expected. After classes thursday i went home with my roomie to the valley....it was pretty much amazing just like last time. And the car ride was an adventure on its own. But anyway. what is new you ask? ummmmmmm so UIS holds a bunch of different events to keep the students entertained and last week i attended the crazy guy thing..which was really this man who took ur body language as clues to what you were thinking. It was AMAZING. he had ducktape on his face and he had us write down our names, a number of some sort, something only we would know and then ask him something we wanted answered. While he had that tape on his face he would crumble the notecard with the writing up and then he could tell us what was written on the note card and best of all ask the question. that was kick ass, and this wasnt the only thing he did other stuff that was just as good.....the point of my blog today? Attend events hosted by UIS.

so as a freshman we were introduced to the tradition of running through the UIS fountain and have done so a couple of times now...here are some old pics of me and my roomie and the best of the gals from the valley

This is the last week of break and it has been super hectic…ive been working 9 hour shifts at work which is a long day….and then babysitting afterwards. I haven’t really spent much time at home…and it seems as though it is usually harder to be home than it is being at school. It seems as though I am less busy at school…yet im not sure if that’s actually true? Perhaps I since I don’t work during the semester last semester it felt that way….neway to a new subject …has anyone besides me been wondering where u will be rooming next year? And what the new dorms will be like….what will be included…will the rooms be bigger…I wish they gave us some of this info…..also what about being a RA? What’s involved? What are the prerequisites? Is anyone else wondering this?

Then on yet another note im completely ready for this break to be over I think that it didn’t feel like a break I need like a week at school with no classes to be completely be rested ..who else is with me? I cant wait to be back!

So I know that some people reading this blog are considering either going to UIS so for those of you are gonna get more out of it then those already in college. What are the main questions you are asking yourself when picking a college? Here are some suggestions….first of all I suggest you first of all research different colleges depending on location, size and major. At my high school we had a computer program that we would just input this information and it would figure all of this out for us. If you are able to use this feature at your school do it. Its definitely worth it, all so suggestion number 2 from me would be to attend those meetings with reps from those schools that you find that you are interested in. and lastly after you have 2 or three choices down you should visit these schools. These visits will help you either lean toward or away from that school. These visits are what helped me realize that UIS was where I belonged. Anyway back to what I was talking about as I have given some do’s id like to give some don’ts. And they are as follows. First of all don’t pick a school because of only one factor such as its in Hawaii and u like hot weather, number 2 don’t pick a school because all your friends are going there. Picking a college is something you should do for yourself and not just because all ur buds are going there. You make tons of friends in the first couple of weeks and though it might be nice to have some people there that you already know it’s not necessary. At big schools if you and your friends go together you might not even see each other that often. Also and this is the biggest one…..DO NOT under any circumstance pick a college because of a college boyfriend or girlfriend/ significant other. Picking a college is something that will determine your future and should not be based on who you are dating at the time. For example what if you pick a college cuz you two will be at the same school and then two weeks in you two break up? Not only will you have to see them more often than if you would have just chosen another school. Also you might have what ifs running through your head all the time. What if I had chosen the school I really wanted to go to? What if I had just given that other school a chance? What ifs are something that can be avoided so why not avoid them. My last comment to you all for tonight would be pick a school for yourself don’t do it for anyone else but yourself …you mine as well enjoy it since you will be attending that school for at least four years. And even if you don’t have friends attending the college you pick that’s no big cuz I guarantee you will meet tons of new people that by the end of the first semester you will not only call friends but maybe even family….i know I do.! Good Luck to you all.

with yet another year gone and a new one here i like so many others have ....new year resolutions. and after establishing them it dawned on me. why is it that so many people wait till new year? it doesnt make it more likely to happen, if something is ment to happen it will on its own but if whose to say that doing it on march 3 isnt as good of a day as january 1. and even though i too am one of those in that bracket it makes me wonder why we do that. its not like ur more likely to succeed. i mean say some person wants to lose weight and she decides this in October...why wait till january to actually execute this. i mean if u want to do something there is no time like the present. maybe its just me but i think goals and resolutions should be made all the time all year round not just on new years. as human beings we dont live forever...and by doing this it seems as though we think we will. There is no time like the present! We may be young now but we wont be forever ...so if there is something you want to do.... Do it now while u still can. there is no way to say how long you'll be able to do it for. Appreciate life and ur ability to do all the little things u can.
