saturdays in the VAlley

SAturday- We went shopping for yet more crap to stuff in our teeny dorm room because apparently we cant have enough stuff in there.....hahahah anyway i tried on some kid footie pajamas from the girls department and we all got a laugh from that since they actually fit.....hahahah my roomie couldnt stop laughing. I luv u roomie......after shopping we went back to my roomies house and her mom made us fried tacos since id never had them...and let me tell u they were amazing. Thanks MR and Mrs. CAttani. ahahhahahah...anyway after that we took a nap and my roomies friends came over and we chilled the rest of the nite. And we star gazed which from atop my roomies hill is amazing. It seems like you can touch the stars since they feel like they are so close....yet in reality they are oober far. Sunday nite, we went and visited her grandmas and id just like to say they are amazing and hope to be back to spring valley some time in the near future. Thanks roomie for sharing with me ur home.

Spring Valley....and the loop

This past weekend i spent in Spring Valley which happens to be my roomie's hometown. Id just like to give some background information on my roomie and myself. First of all, beyond popular belief we were actually randomly put together and we are like two peas in a pod. We were paired amazingly. Another random fact is that me and my roomie come from completely opposite backgrounds/ towns.....her town is a small about a fifth of the size of my town, including her neighboring towns. She is somewhat of a country girl and im a suburban or city girl. Going to her house and spending the weekend there was unlike anything i have ever done before. I live about five minutes away from everything she lives 15-20 minutes away from everything....and thats going 50 mph instead of my 25-30. So, the drive to her house was about 2.5 hours. once we figured out how to get on the highway that is. We got to her house and i met her parents and it was her moms birthday so we celebrated with her and then we hung out with my roomies friends and that was pretty much amazing. What did we do u ask? Well, they took me ghost hunting which wasnt THAT scarey...and then we hung out at her house and played apples to apples and other games such as that. WE also took about twenty kabillion pictures of our heads/ faces and liza dropped the camera on brians face and it was pretty much hilarious...ahhahah good times.

Saturday nites at UIS

Well, guys funny stories......so this week has been a typical week...there is only somuch i can say about classes. so lets skip that and talk about what else has gone on. So id like to mention this kid that is amazing and is so funny and super fun and his birthday is on Tuesday. Happy Happy Birthday Randy. Anyway, friday i had an appointment for big brothers big sisters. It went amazig. i thought id be really boring but it actually made me more aware of myself. it was definitely fun. This meeting actually made you admit things u dont normally such as what ur biggest weakness is.....So let me ask you guys something.....do you know your biggest weakness? now comes the hard part would you be willing to admit it to people? or do you tend to be indenial about it? on a positive not whats ur best quality? i bet this is easier to admit. so moving, friday we had a movie nite with a bunch of people we watched four movies and then went to bed at like four in the morning.
then on saturday we woke up around 2:30 and then we ate breakfast and just lounged around. Later that nite our suite mate randi asked if we had ever been to the ST. Louis Museum. My roomie and i hadnt so we decided to go. We thought that St. louis was in illinois so we were up for it, but then about thirty minutes before we got to our destination we figured out that indeed we were in missouri and we saw the arch and everything. i think i can honestly say the ride was almost just as fun as the playground at the museum. This museum was unlike any place ive ever been to. It was amazing, this museum is both indoor and outdoor. It has a variety of different activities. it ranges from dark tunnels to huge slides made of all sorts of recycled materials such as old mcdonalds playplace tunnels to old airplanes to metal rods and all other sorts of things. it was tons of fun and i would definitely recommend it to all. A couple of interesting stories are that there was this big steep wall that you could either try and run up it or climb it with the help of a rope. It seemed like a good idea at the time but then i couldnt i was on the last rope not and couldnt take my hands off the rope so i just let go and there was some random kid behind me and since i let go he had to jump so i could continue to slide/ fall down the slide. i felt fine after wards but im definitely paying for it today.....ahahha but i wouldnt change a thing about last nite. It was amazing and then there was a side that was cement and it seemed like yet another good idea so i went down it but then it turned out to be a dark cement tunnel, which was twice as big in the beginning then the end. It was teeny, and that alot since coming from me since im five feet tall. my roomie came down the same hole slide and when she half way out she screamed how should i do it? should i start over? how should i go about it? it was beyond hilarious ive never laughed so much in my life. This is by far the best nite of my college life so far. When she finally made it to the end to get out as she crawled out she screamed at the top of her lungs " i Feel Like im Being reborn again". It was beyond funny.hahahhaha. My last story im gonna tell you guys in this psot is about how we would go down abunch of slides and they were all really high/long/and dark so u couldnt see anything. so i would get myself in the slide and then id chicken out so, id grab on to anything that i could to keep me from going down the slide but then id let go. it was tons of fun. My arms actually hurt today though. HAHAHAHHA Goood times i cant wait for next weekend. Im going home with my roomie...so good stories shall be on the way.

funny ole times

Today was like anyother day or so i thought. i had gone to sleep at 5 in the morning and i woke up in time to do homework and go to class. it seemed like a bad day when after all my classes i was called to hangout with some of my friends that live in pennyroyal. iknow people say that its harder to be friends with people in the townhouses since we dont live as close but its not true. so anyway not true. i was on my way back when i got a surprise call saying they were at the dorms wanting to hang out. So when we were on the way to mine and my roommates room when we stopped at one of our friends roooms. i took some of his roommates stuff such as his ironing board and i went surfing and then i also learned to play the board/ guitar.it was so funny.Good times ...Good times....!

friends

Advice for incoming freshman:

the first couple of weeks in college you learn alot about yourself and other people. make sure you give eveyone a chance to be your friend but be careful who you trust. Dont just trust people make people earn your trust if they are worth it .....they will work for it. Also the friendships you make can be so important.

college life in the first couple of weeks

So everyone talks college up.....and to some degree they are somewhat right. But what some people dont realize is that with all the privileges that you get in college is all fun and games. Yet, its alot more. Not at all, not only do you have to deal with classes and sports but you then also have to deal with life in general. New people, new experiances, dealing with certain situations......all a little different for me and probably most other students. Not everyone has the same way of reacting to situation. i feel myself being smothered, there is just way too much stuff going on now. i feel overwhelmed......which is usually common in the first couple of weeks. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. These weeks pretty much suck. Im not only dealing with school and readjusting your schedule to fit your class needs, and then balancing my free time. i need a week off to just fix everything....i need to readjust. Some thing ive needed to learn while ive been here is that if you dont say something people will take advantage of it. If u want something you have to go for it.Life in the dorms/ college is like doing laundry, you sometimes get it right but then other times you screw it up!
