Complications in Commuting

As you all know, I am a commuter student at UIS. In order to do that, though, you have to be able to drive…which I am no longer able to do. That’s right, my license got suspended. I guess there was a new law instated on January 1, 2007 stating that if you are under the age of 21 and get 2 tickets within 24 months, you get your license suspended for 3 months. This is going to make commuting very interesting for the rest of this semester!! I live on the completely opposite side of Springfield. So if you see a kid getting dropped of and picked up by parents or grandparents, it just might be me! :) But on the bright side, I will get to spend a lot more time in the library while I don’t have classes but my parents are at work! (and no, I’m not excited about that! lol)

In other news, my blog broke this weekend! Yup, so today and yesterday I spent quite a bit of time in Jeremy Wilburn's office trying to get it all sorted out...but no worries; after much hard work, he got it all fixed today so I'm back up and running!

Other than that, classes are going great! I have my first lab midterm a week from today, which is crazy to think we are that far into the school year already!! I’m sure as midterms get closer I’ll be studying a lot more & being in the library will come in handy!!

P.S. Here's a picture that I took a long time ago at the Involvement Expo with the Prairie Star, but I'm just now getting around to put up.

A Month Already?!?!

Hey everyone!

The other day I was having lunch with a friend from UIS in the PAC when we realized that we are already a month into school! It definitely doesn't seem like it's been that long! Before you know it, it will be snowing as we go Christmas shopping! :)

UIS is great! I really like all of my profs. They are very helpful and nice; it seems like they really do care about helping you succeed, which is great! Also, I am meeting a lot of other transfer students who commute through my labs and my classes; I was very surprised by how
many commuters there are at UIS, so I don't feel alone! :) I've really enjoyed my labs because I can get to know people while the lab is going on and work together with other students. Classes are going great but are really starting to pick up. I had my first test in organic chemistry yesterday, and it was a lot better than I expected! And I have tests in microbiology and physics coming up next week. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything done...

Hey guys,

I'm Angie; I transferred to UIS as a sophomore biology major. I'm originally from Springfield, so I'm still living at home & commuting, just trying to save a little bit of money. :) I'm new at this whole blogging thing, so bear with me if my posts are dumb or infrequent.

After a week & a half of classes at UIS, I really like it. I'm taking 15 hours of all science classes, which kind of sucks, but whatever. I've met a lot of people from my classes and a few outside of class, too! For First Week, I was only able to make it to the Involvement Expo, but it was a lot of fun--I got a lot of free cups, pens, & other random stuff.

Hope you guys all are having a great week; hopefully I'll be back on soon!
