Skyler's Farewell to TwoSouth

As the year winds down and the Sophomores prepare to graduate from LRH, Skyler wanted to give one last look to the place he has called his home. Here is Skyler's farewell to TwoSouth (and dormlife) in a short photo essay.

Skyler coming out of the shower, excited about being done with finals.

After showering, Skyler stopped to help his suitemate Megan pack. Skyler is really going to miss Megan when she transfers to Kansas State next year.

Skyler chillen out the Springfest Tiki hut in Brad's room, reminiscing about his days as the official Springfest mascot. Skyler would like to thank Brad for being an awesome R.A. and making TwoSouth such a great place to live. To see more about twosouth community visit twosouth.com

Jenna helps Skyler enjoy a smoothie at Capitol Perks. Thanks to SAC, smoothies were free for finals week! Skyler savors his smoothie to the last drop, because he knows he is never going to buy one again once he doesn't have a meal plan.

Skyler is attempting to spend the last $40 on his I-card in the cafeteria, hope he has a big appetite.

Skyler met up for lunch with Dr. Moranski, the Capital Scholar's HONORS Program Director.

The Adventures of Skyler: The Saga Continues

Caution: Warning! Warning! If you haven't read the previous blog "The Adventures of Skyler," (READ IT!!!) this blog continuation will leave you inextricably lost.

Skyler would like to apologize for the long hiatus. It's kinda like a really good TV show that has a cliffhanger and then leaves for the whole summer. On a different note, Skyler would like to dedicate this blog to Rowena and all of his fans that have inquired about his return.

Without further ado:

After his pit stop at the vending machines, Skyler was back and ready for action. With a devious plan in mind, he headed toward the infamous LRH Great Room. On the way, Skyler ran into fellow Two Souther Jim who was working at the LRH front desk.

After stopping for awhile to keep Jim company, Skyler heading to the Great Room to enact his master plan. Skyler, in response to e-mails and postings concerning the prohibition of balls and other such items of inevitable destruction in the Great Room, posed with a basketball for good measure.

Skyler then decided to play a quick tune on the piano that we just learned from his friend Jeave.

By this time, Skyler was exhausted. He decided to call it a night, admitting that he never really did have a cohesive master plan. He had intended to come up with one, but it really never materialized. On the way up the stairs, Skyler ran into his friend Daniel who kindly posed for a picture.

As Skyler entered TwoSouth territory, he decided to make a quick stop at his friend Roza's room. He posed on her bed in hope that you, the reader, could see the clock and realize that it was way past his bedtime.

Before Skyler could return to his room, he felt the need to visit his friend Holly. On his way into her room, Skyler attempted to eat a snowflake, imitating his role model and venerable R.A. Brad J. Ward.

Upon entering her room, Holly took Skyler hostage and styled his hair against his will.

After his makeover, Skyler eyes felt heavy so he headed back to his suite and brushed his teeth.

He then said goodnight and quietly entered room 230 where his roommates, Melissa, Jill, and The Bumble, were already fast asleep.

Here are some pictures which were taken after the first posting of Skyler's adventures. Skyler and his first girlfriend, Jenny. In a dramatic hallway scene, she dumped him shortly thereafter.

Rachel sharing her Pepsi with Skyler. Skyler doesn't drink Coke, because, as we learned in what is power, drinking Coke kills Columbian children - Right Josie? (Ok, so this is a little bit of an oversimplification. But seriously, Coke has its share of dirty laundry.)

John shows Skyler where he will be in Russia this summer.

Finals are Over!

Well finals are over for me at least. Hopefully everyone is surviving finals so far. I am just so excited that I am done for the year and I am now done with CAP finals. Since it is finals week though there have been a lot of fun events and giving away of free food. Last night especially was a blast. In LRH there was a pb & j night so everyone had sandwiches with the weridest stuff on them. Fellow blogger John Kelly created the sandwich below and I still cannot believe he ate that and a few more just like it.

Also, there was a fundraiser for ISRAA. Fellow blogger Matt Wallace allowed himself to be duct taped to the pole outside of LRH. It was 2 strips 5 ft long for a $1 and a whole roll of duct tape for $10. Once Matt was taped to the pole, Brad Ward, another RA and president of ISRAA, said he would get duct taped to the other side of the pole if the crowd could raise another $20. I of course hurried up stairs to get money because this would be a fun things to see and boy was I right. I think the pictures that follow speak for themselves. Overall $74 was able to be raised for ISRAA and I ended up giving $16. I was able to buy two rolls of tape for $15 and my friend Dan Collins helped me tape the two guys together. Boy was it a funny night. Well here are the pictures for all of you to enjoy.

T J was the first person to duct tape Matt. After a bit though Matt decided it would take awhile to duct tape him so we got him a magazine to read.

These two guys bought a roll of duct tape.

Matt was hanging a good distance above the ground. I have to say the tape gave him a slim figure. HAHA

Someone was nice enough to make Matt a spot to put his water bottle as he hung from the pole.

Brad decided on his own to take this position when being taped to the pole. It made it s bit more challenging to duct tape him up but it made a hilarious picture.

After a team of guys cut Brad down, he kept showing off his "armadillo shell," which is what he named his new look.

About an hour after Matt went up, he was cut down from the pole. He also got a new look from his duct tape outfit. All I can say is that these guys are good sports to allow them selves to be duct taped to a pole.

A College Version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas

A fun finals reading that I got from a friend in an email. Enjoy!

Twas the night before finals,
And all through the college,
The students were praying
For last minute knowledge.

Most were quite sleepy,
But none touched their beds,
While visions of essays
danced in their heads.

Out in the taverns,
A few were still drinking,
And hoping that liquor
would loosen up their thinking.

In my own apartment,
I had been pacing,
And dreading exams
I soon would be facing.

My roommate was speechless,
His nose in his books,
And my comments to him
Drew unfriendly looks.

I drained all the coffee,
And brewed a new pot,
No longer caring
That my nerves were shot.

I stared at my notes,
But my thoughts were muddy,
My eyes went ablur,
I just couldn't study.

"Some pizza might help,"
I said with a shiver,
But each place I called
Refused to deliver.

I'd nearly concluded
That life was too cruel,
With futures depending
On grades had in school.

When all of a sudden,
Our door opened wide,
And Patron Saint Put It Off
Ambled inside.

Her spirit was careless,
Her manner was mellow,
She started to bellow:

"What kind of student
Would make such a fuss,
To toss back at teachers
What they tossed at us?"

"On Cliff Notes! On Crib Notes!
On Last Year's Exams!
On Wingit and Slingit,
And Last Minute Crams!"

Her message delivered,
She vanished from sight,
But we heard her laughing
Outside in the night.

"Your teachers have pegged you,
So just do your best.
Happy Finals to All,
And to All, a good test."

I'm 20 Now!!!

So I am official no longer a teenager. I know silly right but hey that is the only really cool part about being 20 years old. So I stayed here at school for my birthday, which was actually very enjoyable. Since my birthday was this past Sunday I was able to sleep in a bit. I sadly had to work on a presentation for the next day but that was about all the homework I did. I went to the HRC Banquet that afternoon. It was funny getting together with a bunch of people who had been in the organization the whole year with me. Awards were given out, which sadly I didn't win any. The HRC Executive Board was announced as well at the banquet. I did find out that my good friend Erin Turner is going to be an RA in Foxglove. There was of course some delicious food at the banquet, appetizers and desserts to be exact.

Later that night I went out for my birthday with my boyfriend who sadly had to work most of the day. We decided to go to Mariah's Restaurant. Now neither one of us ever went there before but we heard it was good and wanted to try something new. It turned out to be this great cabin looking restaurant with wonderful Italian food. It was such a great experience going there. We didn't have to wait to be seated and the food came pretty quickly. The dinner was so good and wasn't that expensive either, well at least compared to olive garden that has a similar menu.

My birthday was great. I got a ton of cards, some of which were e-cards, as well as some great presents. I love my birthday because it is really nice to know that some many people care about you and think of cute things to give you that so fit with your personality. I even got a card signed by a ton of my friends and fellow wing mates. It was just so sweet and I get to go home tomorrow and celebrate my birthday with my family. Should be a blast.

Well I wish everyone the best during finals and good luck finishing all your projects and papers. I will do my best to make at least one more blog before I head home for the summer. Oh, I am trying to finish the Skylar blog but it takes time to write the adventures of a cabbage patch doll. I heard that people enjoyed the first one and there have been a few requests for the adventures to be continued so I just want to let people know it is in the works.

Fun times

So what a few weeks it has been. So last week was springfest and boy is it hard just being a judge. Last year I was on a team and I found it very stressful but I think it is just as stressful sometimes being a judge. The people in charge of springfest did an awesome job with this week long event. I definitely think it is the event of the year. Oh, the weather was wonderful most of the week too, which rocked. In fact it was so nice that myself and a lot of others got a lovely tan or should I say sunburn. HAHA. For more information on Springfest visit http://springfest.twosouth.com/

The weather is so cold now. Today was suppose to be Cabin Fever Games but for many reasons it did not occur with one being the super cold and windy weather. Instead was a board game day in the Great Room with a cookout afterwards. It was fun. A few of us played the game of life. How awesome is that game I mean where else can your career be rock star and president at the same time.

Out of boredom earlier in the week by future roommate Sarah Frey and I went out to fly a kite. She had bought this really cute 80 cent kite at Walmart. So we took the kite out and sadly it didn't want to fly. As you can see by the pictures below, her Barbie kite did not fly that high.

Well back to homework since I will not being doing anything tomorrowsince it is my birthday. That's right the big 20!

Vote

So today and tomorrow are the SGA elections. I recommend that everyone get out and vote. The BOT is important though since it is the only race with two people running in it. I suggest that everyone vote for BOB. To find out more information about BOB for BOT go here http://students.uis.edu/rskor01s/
